Vollmer History

| 1909 |
Heinrich Vollmer developed the first patentable saw blade swaging and filing machine back in 1909. The product range grew over the next few years to include other machines for improving saw blade precision. Export markets then developed to become supporting pillars of the company.

| 1952 |
To address the requirements for the increasingly popular carbide-tipped circular saw blade, Vollmer began in 1952 to develop a special sharpening machine range. Driven by a series of new and further developments, this business division grew over the coming decades to assume overriding importance in the company. In 1959, Vollmer added the production of fully automatic tenpin bowling systems to its portfolio.

| 1988 |
Since 1988, Vollmer has enjoyed international success with an innovative erosion machine range for machining diamond-tipped tools for the woodworking industry, followed later by machines catering to the metalworking industry. A sales and servicing cooperation agreement for the US American market has been concluded with ANCA Pty. Ltd. of Melbourne Australia. Meanwhile, the Biberach headquarters of the company has undergone wide-ranging structural rebuilding in order to accommodate optimized production. Alongside an on-going policy to increase R&D capacity, this investment addresses our own self-imposed target of achieving growth through more advanced technology.
